Nutrition:
Nutritional counseling for each cancer patient optimizes the
diet for pure, non-carcinogenic foods, recommending fresh vegetables,
fruits and whole grains in abundance, fish, fowl, nuts and seeds,
and dairy products in moderate to minimal amounts; the elimination
of refined and processed foods, fats and fried foods, and red meat.
Extra vitamins and other nutritional elements that may be lacking
are also prescribed. Although some cancer diets require drastic
change, we feel that people need to be comfortable with what they
eat, and enjoy their food; therefore we generally tell patients
to use as many aspects of the diet as they feel comfortable with,
and not to feel a need to be austere or inflexible in order to succeed.
