We have always enjoyed antique collecting, and more recently we've expanded our hobby to include a small on-line business. We enjoy going to auctions and garage sales. We like finding "great deals". Sometimes, we don't know whether we've found a great deal or not. Then we either consult one of our trusty price guides, or if that fails check with the experts on the Usenet group rec.antiques..
Each of us has favorite things to collect. Mine is Chinese
Red Hall China Co. serving pieces and teapots. I really like the color
of the glaze, and the classic lines of Hall pottery. We collect lots of
other other American pottery items, too, including Russel Wright designs.
My favorite is American Modern Seafoam Green, but I've also a good size collection of shakers in American Modern & Iroquois. Visit
the Russel Wright Homepage.
Janie is most interested in art pottery like Roseville, and blue willow pattern items. She also has a great collection of character glasses from the 50's and 60's. Most recently, she's gotten into "Head Vases", which I find kinda morbid, but whatever.
There are lots of places to shop for antiques on the Internet. Two of my favorites are Auntie Q's Antiques and Collectibles and TIAS. Another great way to buy and sell antiques is through the Usenet groups rec.antiques.marketplace and rec.collectibles.
